Former teammate Angel Reese speaks out, revealing the shocking truth about her leaving the Chicago Sky for the WNBA rookie star

Former Chicago Sky star Marina Mabrey has finally opened up about her time in the Windy City and whether she left the team because of a feud with Angel Reese. Mabrey made it clear while filming a video with Reese while the two were preparing for their new basketball league, Unrivaled.

Reese saw Mabrey behind her, called her over, and asked her directly about their time together on the team. “Money Mabrey, I have a conspiracy. People want to know. Marina, did you leave Chicago because of me?” Reese asked. “No!” Mabrey responded immediately, causing her former teammates to laugh. “I love Angel, the real ones know that.” Mabrey then agreed to Reese’s request to twerk on her live video. Angel Reese and Marina Mabrey discussed Mabrey’s departure from the Chicago Sky last July. Mabrey insists she didn’t leave the Sky because of any issues with Reese and “love” her.

When Mabrey was traded to the Connecticut Sun in July, she said she wanted to keep her reasons for leaving internal. Mabrey later mentioned her desire to play for a championship-winning team, as the Sky failed to make the WNBA Finals last year, one of only four teams not to do so. Mabrey also mentioned coming to Chicago under former head coach James Wade and having to adapt to different systems, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. There doesn’t seem to be any animosity between the former teammates, as they may have faced off multiple times on Unrivaled. Reese was on Team Rose, while Mabrey was on Team Phantom.
