Korean artist DJ Koo spoke out for the first time after Barbie Hsu’s death, leaving his inheritance to his mother-in-law.
According to Next Apple , on the evening of February 6, DJ Koo sent a statement about the events related to his family in recent days.
The singer said that he is currently experiencing unimaginable pain that cannot be expressed in words. He does not even have the strength to say anything, nor does he want to. However, he was forced to speak up because while his family was in mourning, some people spread malicious rumors, hurting the members.
DJ Koo said that Hy Vien’s assets were earned through her sweat and tears, and the actress always wanted to use the material things she created to protect her family. Therefore, he gave all his inheritance rights to Ms. Hoang Xuan Mai – Tu Hy Vien’s mother.
According to Next Apple, the actress maintained her popularity despite stopping acting since 2011, and her assets exceeded one billion NT dollars (over 30 million USD) before her death. Of which, she owned two expensive properties in Xinyi District in Taipei City, with the total value of the two houses exceeding 500 million NT dollars (about 15 million USD).

In the article, DJ Koo is said to have referred to Wang Xiaofei by saying: “Someone pretended to be miserable, walking in the rain.” Because after Hy Vien passed away, Wang Xiaofei was seen walking in the rain back to the businessman’s rented house in Taipei, near his ex-wife’s house.
DJ Koo also said: “Someone intentionally damaged our family’s image, posting fake news about money and insurance that hurt us. At this time, I helplessly thought, how can there really be such bad people in the world. Please don’t do anything more, let Hy Vien rest in peace.”
Actress Barbie Hsu passed away in Japan on February 2. On February 5, DJ Koo, Barbie Hsu’s mother, her two children, and her sister brought her ashes back to Taiwan. The family said they would not hold a memorial service because Barbie Hsu was a private person who liked privacy.
Social networks spread the actress’s medical records, after which many people criticized the family for “not doing a good job in treating her, causing Hy Vien to pass away”.
Some people spread the news that Wang Xiaofei paid for the private plane to take Xiyuan back to her hometown. Later, Xu Xidi’s manager denied the story, saying that Xidi and his wife paid for all funeral expenses.
DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu fell in love in the 1990s, but due to the singer’s management company’s objections, they broke up. According to Vogue , in 2021, upon hearing that Barbie Hsu had divorced Wang Xiaofei, DJ Koo called the actress from the number he had saved 20 years ago, and was delighted to find that she was still using the same phone number. The two rekindled their relationship and completed the marriage registration process in early 2022.
Over the past three years, the couple has faced many challenges. DJ Koo was uncomfortable when his wife was bad-mouthed by her ex-husband and ex-mother-in-law. But he was stronger to encourage his wife. “If I was also upset, Hy Vien would be affected in a more negative way. I came to Taiwan to protect and shelter her, I promised to protect her for life,” DJ Koo said on Next Apple .
