Taylor Swift Faces Backlash at 2025 Super Bowl as Donald Trump Responds to Crowd’s Reaction
Taylor Swift may have escaped the wrath of her detractors at the 2025 Super Bowl, but the moment has continued to spark waves of controversy.
Indeed, former President Donald Trump reacted to the booing of the singer during the game on February 9, when cameras captured her watching her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs lose to the Philadelphia Eagles. Trump, who himself faced boos from the crowd during his attendance, showed little sympathy for the “Willow” singer.
“The only one who had a worse night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on the night of the big game in New Orleans. “She was BOOED out of the stadium. MAGA truly does not forgive!”
Meanwhile, Swift appeared to laugh off the cold reception. When the big screen at Caesars Superdome flashed a scene of Adam Sandler sitting next to Paul Rudd, it quickly transitioned to a shot of the “All Too Well” singer sitting with Ice Spice as the crowd erupted in boos. Taylor widened her eyes and stared at her collaborator “Karma” before both of them seemingly burst out laughing at the moment.

Trump’s criticism of Taylor was not a first for the former president. When Swift supported Vice President Kamala Harris for president in a lengthy statement in September, mentioning that she had recently seen AI-generated images falsely depicting her supporting Trump in the 2024 election, Trump took some time to praise Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes a lot more,” Trump said on Fox News on September 11. “If you want to know the truth. She’s a huge fan of Trump. I’m not a fan of Taylor Swift. It’s just a matter of time. You can’t support [Joe] Biden. But she’s very free-spirited. She always seems to support a Democrat, and she might pay the price for that in the market.”
“But I like Brittany,” he continued. “I think Brittany’s great. She’s a huge MAGA fan. She’s someone I like a lot more than Taylor Swift. The wife of a great quarterback. I think she’s awesome.”
A few days later, Trump went further, posting “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social.
President Donald Trump at Super Bowl 2025
As for Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ wide receiver described it as “a huge honor” that Trump would make history by attending this year’s Super Bowl.
“It’s a big honor,” he explained. “I think regardless of who the president is, I’m excited because this is the biggest game of my life, and having the president there, it’s the greatest country in the world, so it’s going to be amazing.”
The attention surrounding Taylor Swift and her reaction to the crowd’s response at the 2025 Super Bowl continues to stir discussions about political and celebrity dynamics, especially with figures like Trump making their voices heard.
