Ciara opens up to Summer Walker about her relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback during a chat on Apple Music’s ‘Over It Radio’
Marriage takes work, even for Ciara and Russell Wilson.
The Grammy winner, 39, opened up about her marriage to the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 36, during a chat with Summer Walker on a new episode of Apple Music’s Over It Radio, revealing some of the rules they maintain in their relationship.
“I like to say that communication rules a country. The thing that I will give my husband a lot of credit for is that he can communicate very well. And I think maybe that’s the quarterback in him because he’s so good at leading, so good at working with a team, so good at being together,” said Ciara, who shares son Win, 4, and daughters Sienna, 7, and Amora, 1, with Wilson. She’s also mom to son Future, 10.

Although the “Oh” singer admitted to being “stubborn” and “bitchy and aggressive at times,” she ultimately explained, “I’m really grateful for his ability to communicate with me. Because I feel like there’s nothing I can’t tell him. And even if we have to work our way through it in conversation, I feel very confident that we’ll get through it.”
In addition to her ongoing work and “not going to bed angry,” Ciara said she and Wilson continue to “date each other” even after eight years have passed.
“We have our precious kids and that’s a lot. And then me, doing everything that I try to do every day. Tired and busy. And then he does his job and makes it work. And I think sometimes it can get monotonous if you don’t look up and take notes. And so we’re very committed to date night,” she told Walker, 28.

The couple’s date nights happen “every Friday” because of Wilson’s football schedule, “and it’s something I look forward to,” Ciara said.
“I feel like, like, the initial feelings are all over the place, being cute because of him and him being cute and feeling it,” she noted. “But it’s fun. It helps us keep things fresh.”

The Color Purple actress noted that she spends most of her time focusing on motherhood and that she often feels “mommy guilt” when she spends time focusing on her and Wilson’s relationship.
“But the best thing about us connecting is that it’s really a great deep breath for me in the middle of the week and for me,” Ciara detailed. “I really look forward to going out, him taking me out, picking a restaurant. And I think that helps keep things fresh. And I feel so lucky that we have that.”
